What are people looking for? Ranchers... Ranchers with basements seem to be popular amoung the empty nesters, and rancher townhouses with or without basements are popular for seniors, but everyone seem to agree: What's really appealing are, privacy, small easily mantained yards, mature landscape, large kitchens, updated flooring and fixtures, especially kitchens, adequate parking & LOCATION. Many people like newer homes, but try and find a newer Rancher! Builders have for sometime been maximizing land use by building large two level, basement homes. Great for families, extended families, or mortgage helpers, but the empty nesters and seniors are left out.
Best bets are Chilliwack, where they seem to encourage the aging population by offering rancher styled homes.
