New Building code for BC
New Building Code for B.C. News from the British Columbia Real Estate Association says: with consumer protection in mind, a new building code will be introduced as part of the governments provincial housing strategy. The last code update was in 1998. The new edition should be released to the public this fall, and should come in to effect by the end of the year. This years technical provisions will be supported by objectives and explanations and should create minimal disruption as information and clairifications of provisions will be included. This years code will also include specific alternative solutions, rather than allowing for innovation and flexibility where compliance is concerned, as did the 1998 version.
